If you answered "Yes" to that question and you are at least 18 years of age and will live alone; and you have an income that does not exceed for one person $33950, you may qualify to live at Forest Oaks Apartments.

Forest Oaks is conveniently located on a busline with access to downtown Columbia, Interstates 20 and 77, shopping, fine restaurants and entertaining.  It is located at 3111 Two Notch Road, just 1/4 mile off of Beltline heading north.  It is a formerly dilapidated hotel that was converted into 51 affordable efficiency apartments for Single Room Occupancy  (one person per apartment permitted only) in the Fall of 1998.  Each Forest Oaks apartment has a completely furnished kitchenette.  A spacious community room is available to all residents with a large sitting area with television and VCR.  

Amenities of the Community include, but are not limited to:  carpeting, a spacious closet, an open and airy kitchenette with european cabinets, energy-efficient GE appliances such as a frost-free refrigerator, a stainless steel kitchen sink, mini-blinds, tilt-out windows, an individual controlled thermostat for your heating and air, a dual-powered smoke detector, a fire extinguisher, a medicine cabinet, a ceramic tile bath, a vanity area, a steel front door, a strategically placed telephone jack, and a cable ready outlet.

The studio units are available to individuals whose annual incomes do not exceed $33,950.  Rent is $325-375 per month for an unfurnished and $50 per month additionally for a furnished unit.  Residents pay their own electric bills, however, water is provided.  Forest Oaks offers 6 and 12 month lease agreements.
